If your product development agency is looking for a circular connector solution that’s both reliable and cost-effective — look no further than the iMATE series by iCONN. Here’s the complete rundown on why this connector is the perfect fit for many applications.

Customers can select from three different circular plastic connector sizes:

iMATE 17

  • The smallest connector in the iMATE series
  • Ideal for small spaces
  • Available in 2 or 3 positions with 20 AWG contacts
  • Up to 7 positions with 22 AWG contacts

iMATE 23

  • The medium-sized connector in the iMATE series
  • The most versatile
  • Relatively small profile
  • Features three contact sizes:
    • Up to 12 positions with 22 AWG contacts
    • Up to 8 positions with 20 AWG contacts
    • 5 positions with 16 AWG contacts

iMATE 28

  • The largest connector in the iMATE series
  • Features three contact sizes:
    • 14 positions with 20 AWG contacts
    • 6 positions with 16 AWG contacts
    • 3 positions with 12 AWG contacts

Note: Choosing a connector will depend on how many positions are needed. Most product development teams try for the smallest connector possible.

Coupling and Installation

iMATE circular connectors feature quick, one-turn coupling, which means they require very little installation time and are ideal for applications that involve repeated coupling/uncoupling.

Durability and Construct

Because this series is constructed of plastic instead of metal, it’s far more affordable than some of the other connectors on the market. However, this does not mean durability is compromised. The iMATE series uses a high-grade resin and glass-filled PET/PBT. Its contacts are gold-plated over nickel-copper alloy, and can be ordered with crimp or PCB terminations. Product development teams can also select over-molds in straight, right or custom angles.

Note: iMATE connectors will have an inherently shorter coupling cycle than a metal connector. If you require a connector solution with greater durability, check out the complete iCONN catalog.

Common Applications

The iMATE circular connector series is most commonly used for low-voltage power situations and signal applications, including:

  • GPS units
  • The interconnect for traffic radars and satellite TV
  • Fire suppression systems
  • LED-based video monitors
  • Detection systems

Ratings

The iMATE circular connector series is rated for up to 300 volts (depending on density) and boasts an IP 67/68 rating for ingress protection. These connectors also pass UL 94VO requirements for flammability.
